Edith Sanfilippo is GISTnet's lead author for U.S. customs brokerage and import training She also assists customers with development of company-specific in-house broker training, engages in marketing and represents GISTnet at leading industry conferences.

Edith is a career Customs Broker with extensive "hands-on" and management experience in northern border and inland port operations. Along the way, she has also become a training, audit and compliance professional with respect to customs brokerage and FDA, OSHA and other government agency requirements. She has also implemented ISO 9000 quality programs.

Edith began her career in 1983 with Tower Group International (FedEx), and within a short time became a licensed broker. Her work progressed from entry clerk to post entry specialist, a top level account manager, then branch manager and finally managing broker for international entries and remote location filing. As district manager for another global forwarder, she was responsible for multiple northern broker offices.

Following 9/11, Edith managed an information systems project for the Department of Homeland Security that arranged and scheduled Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel for training and testing.

Most recently, before joining GISTnet in 2006, Mrs. Sanfilippo was a Regional Training Manager for DHL Global Forwarding. Here she developed training materials, conducted training and performed compliance audits for both international and border offices on OSHA safety, ISO quality, and customs brokerage including FDA, HTSUS classification, best practices, customer care, electronic resources and information systems.

Mrs. Sanfilippo is a Master Customs Specialist (MCS) and Certified Customs Specialise (CCS), has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Certificate in International Trade.
