IAC Instruction Letter

Below is language suitable for use by an IAC to instruct GISTnet in its security responsibilities as an authorized representative. If you want to copy this or similar language onto company letterhead and send it to us, we will be happy to sign it and send it back in acknowledgement.

As our authorized representative (AR) for training of our personnel and agents in their air cargo security responsibilities, as required under 49 CFR 1548.11, we as an IAC must inform and instruct you in your air cargo security responsibilities, which are:

• Protection of sensitive security information (SSI) in your possession from unauthorized access, as required under 49 CFR 1520.
• Initial and annual training of your personnel who have access to SSI in the course of their work, as required under 49 CFR 1548.11(c). You may use a GISTnet air cargo security course covering your responsibilities for this purpose.
• Prohibition on false statements and falsification of records, as addressed under 49 CFR 1540.103.

As your personnel will have no access to air cargo nor other IAC operational responsibilities, the above are your only security responsibilities.
