T62u—Operational Safety for Cargo Terminal and Warehouse Employees
T62u—Operational Safety for Cargo Terminal and Warehouse Employees
This course is in development, and will be ready on 2008-01-31.
Estimated total study time: 2 hours 57 minutes
This course is designed to meet OSHA and DOT HAZMAT safety training requirements for employees physically handling or exposed to cargo, materials and material handling equipment in a typical cargo terminal and/or distribution warehouse. It is also suitable to office and clerical staff who work within cargo or warehouse facilities who enter cargo areas and/or have potential exposure to hazrdous materials in the event of an incident involving such materials.
With respect to dangerous goods/HAZMAT shipments, this course is limited to proper handling of shipper-packed and certified non-bulk shipping packages, and not HAZMAT shipped in bulk nor to be transferred, repackaged or otherwise opened/consumed in business operations.
Important: This course does not provide safety training for:
- Fork lift truck operators (see separate GISTnet course T17u);
- Supervisors and facility managers with respect tp employer safety responsibilities (see GISTnet course T15u for this add-on training)
- Crane and overhead hoist operators, and employees working in/around this equipment;
- Carpentry tasks (e.g., the fabrication of wood export packaging, blocking and bracing inside an intermodal container), nor
- Stevedores and other workers in marine cargo terminals where vessels are loaded and unloaded.
Employers can easily add on-line module(s) to this course to address company-specific and/or facility-specific safety policy and operational measures.
