S10u—Supply Chain Security Programs and Management for U.S. Transportation Intermediaries
S10u—Supply Chain Security Programs and Management for U.S. Transportation Intermediaries
This course is in development, and will be ready on 2008-08-31.
Estimated total study time: 11 hours 43 minutes
This course covers supply chain security awareness, operational concerns and management responsibilities with respect to the various security programs that U.S. forwarders, NVOs, and customs brokers may be involved in (e.g., C-TPAT, IACSSP (excluding SSI), hazmat, TAPA, general cargo loss prevention and workplace security).
Because many of the security measures for these different programs are the same, after addressing security awareness and summarizing program requirements, we proceed to focus on particular measures, their integration into a composite security program that covers all the bases, and program management concerns.
In particular, we address intermediary responsibilities related to:
- C-TPAT minimum security standards for customs brokers, freight forwarders, NVOs;
- Relationship of C-TPAT to other CBP cargo security measures such as pre-departure/pre-arrival shipment notification and Container Security Initiative;
- IACSSP requirements, but without "need-to-know" details (no SSI as defined in 49 CFR 1520);
- TWIC program;
- DOT requirement for hazmat security plan and training;
- Commercial cargo loss prevention, with an introduction to TAPA.
See also our shorter supply chain security courses broken out by job assignment. These focus the particular security measures that employees must understand, perform and comply with, and are designed for easy modification to add company-specific policies and procedures.
Note: This training does not contain Sensitive Security Information (ref. 49 CFR 1520).
